The basic objectives of ATI, is to contribute to a continuing improvement in the administration of the State, so that it is able to fulfill the aspiration of the people for development at an accelerated pace. To fulfill this the institute;

1. Organizes Common Foundation courses for Gazetted     Probationers of the State Civil Services.
2. Conducts Job courses for Gazetted Probationers
3. Gives Orientation Training to officers promoted to higher cadres in     the Government.
4. Imparts in-service training to officers of various departments of the     State Government
5. Organizes special Courses, Seminars, Workshops and     Conferences.
6. Conducts various Training Programs sponsored by the Training     Division, Government of India, New Delhi
7. Conducts Orientation courses for IAS / IFS Probationers allotted     to the Karnataka Cadre.
8. Conducts Training of Trainers - DTS and DOT - and RU courses.

With these objectives, the Institution, strives to bring in attitudinal change amongst the officers and make them responsible to provide Responsive Administration which is the Goal of State Government.
