| The Institute |

| The Institutes campus is located
at the foothills of the Goddess Chamundi on the Lalitha
Mahal Road,
Mysore amidst serene surroundings and is 3 KM away
from KSRTC bus stand and 4 KM from the Railway Station
The campus houses three Institutions - Administrative
Training Institute (ATI), State Institute of Urban
Development (SIUD) and Abdul Nazeer Sab State Institute
of Rural Development (ANSSIRD) a quantum mix
of the old and the Modern. |

| In order to provide training to
the officers for smooth functioning of the administrative
machinery
the Government of India set up the "Orientation
Study Center" at Mysore in 1959. This institute
was handed over to Government of Mysore in 1967 and
the institute was renamed as Administrative
Training Institute (ATI). The ATI is the apex
training institute of the Government of Karnataka
and caters mainly
to the training needs of Group 'A' and Group 'B'
officers of Karnataka. The training programs conducted
on regular basis include Foundation Course for Gazetted
Probationers of the State Civil Service, Orientation
Course for IAS / IFS probationers allotted to the
Karnataka Cadre, Refresher Course for in-service
officers and course on Training of Trainers, Gender
Sensitization, Financial Management, Legal aspects
and Computer applications. |

| ATI has also been recognized
by the Election Commission of India as the Regional
Center for South India to
impart training on Election matters. |
|
| A management committee under the chairmanship of
Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Karnataka,
guides the Institute in policy matters relating to
Training and Administration. The Director General
(Senior IAS Officer of the rank of Principal Secretary
to the Government) heads the Institute. The Faculty
members are drawn from various departments on deputation
basis. |

| The State Institute for
Urban Development (SIUD),
established in 1999 by the Urban Development Department
under the umbrella of ATI caters to the training
needs of officers, Officials and elected representatives
of Urban Sector (ULBs and allied Urban Agencies).

| The Abdul Nazeer Sab State
Institute for Rural Development (ANSSIRD) established in 1989 has been
conducting training for elected representatives of
Panchayat Raj Institutions as well as officers of
these Institutions. The institute is headed by a
Director.
